Technical Pre-Sales Consultant

What is your role at Xtravirt?

I work closely with the Partner Managers and Partners themselves, to provide pre-sales support, across virtual infrastructure, cloud and workspace consultancy services. This includes the creation of bid/proposal documents and statement of works, engaging key stake holders to understand client IT requirements and recognising IT system deficiencies and proposing effective solutions.

 

What attracted you to Xtravirt?

I was looking for a shift into pre-sales, and after interviews it was apparent that the culture was very focused on the employees, with training and personal development. This, along with the people I knew of that already worked here, I was excited by the opportunity.

 

Leadership style

Communication is important, I believe that it is good to know what is going on so that all members in a team can work effectively. I enjoy both giving and receiving orders and I am flexible when it comes to having defined outcomes or not.

 

What makes a great pre-sales consultant?

A pre-sales consultant can help translate the customer’s requirements in to technical solutions and aligns these solutions with the businesses desired outcomes. It also ensures that the Partners are receiving the best service from Xtravirt by understanding what can be improved and areas we can work more closely together.

People would be surprised to hear that I worked as…

I have worked in IT since leaving school, so it doesn’t surprise people that I am still in it now – however they are surprised to know that I did originally look in to a career in demolition.

Experience

Prior to joining Xtravirt Consulting, I spent 2+ years at CUBE/The Content Group, working on their SaaS offering, which involved supporting their core infrastructure and onboarding new clients. Prior to that, I worked as an IT Manager/Engineer at a Technology reseller, which had partial involvement in pre-sales and new product scoping.

 

What was your first job?

My first job was at a financial advisor, where I worked as a Desktop Support Technician.
